Treat immediate hazards carefully
Keep people and pets away from hanging branches, split trunks, uprooted root plates, and trees resting on structures. Never approach a tree or limb contacting a power line. Contact the electric utility or emergency services when electrical infrastructure or an immediate life-safety concern is involved.
Document the condition from a safe location
Photograph the entire tree, the damaged area, the trunk base, and anything the tree could strike. Note when the damage occurred and whether the tree has moved since then. Do not stand beneath a broken limb or enter a compromised structure to obtain a better photo.
Separate stabilization from final decisions
Emergency work may focus on making the site reasonably safe and accessible. Final pruning, removal, stump work, or restoration can be priced separately once the condition is understood. Ask for a written scope so you can compare what each provider includes.
